Outrageous October

October has been an interesting cake month. I love the way my clients are constantly challenging me and I'm always learning new things.

For the second year in a row, I was asked to make Parke's birthday cake! This year he is all about the famous Mickey Mouse so I made him this chocolate cake as well as some cupcakes to house all the fun figurines! (Chocolate cake. Vanilla buttercream. October 9.)

In celebration of her father's nearly Halloween birthday, Missy ordered this (more cute than scary!) haunted house. I even inscribed it "Happy Boo-thday!" (Yellow cake. Vanilla buttercream. October 16.)

Next up was faire maiden Alexis' birthday! Angela chose a Snow White "Mirror Mirror on the Wall" theme for her daughter' cake and invited all the Disney princesses to the party. In order to achieve a shiny effect, luster dust was added to the mirrored part which made it silvery and glittery. (Chocolate cake. Vanilla buttercream. October 24.)

Christine ordered this bustier cake for a co-worker's bridal shower. Once again my camera has decided to mess with the colors showing a navy when in fact the detailing is dark purple. The corset eyelets are accented with sugar hearts and the only thing that's not edible is the white ribbon. (Yellow cake. Vanilla buttercream. October 24)
